Near Palombara Sabina, in Lazio, is the Abbazia di San Giovanni in Argentella, a historic monastery. The complex has its origins deeply rooted in history.

The founding of the church is attributed to the Lombards and dated to the year 529. It is believed that the name "in Argentella" comes from a nearby spring, possibly in Valle Lunga. Building materials from a Roman villa or temple from the surrounding area may have been reused for the construction. In the 11th century, the abbey underwent extensive renovation.
