Palais Bürresheimer Hof

The Bürresheimer Hof was constructed in 1659/60 following designs by the Capuchin friar Bonitius. Originally, the complex included a main house, two smaller buildings, and a four-winged structure. The first main house was destroyed in 1688 during the War of the Palatine Succession and rebuilt between 1691 and 1696 under Johann Christoph Sebastiani. The patron was Lothar Ferdinand Freiherr von der Leyen-Nickenich. Through inheritance, the court came into the possession of the Barons of Breitbach-Bürresheim, who gave it its current name. In the 18th century, extensions were made, including a gallery building. In 1816, a four-winged building complex was demolished.
