Parkhof Manor

The Parkhof was built as a three-winged complex in the 18th century by the fortress governor Lieutenant General von Oheimb.

Construction and Early Use

The construction of the Parkhof began in 1745 and was completed in 1750. Originally, it served as the private residence of von Oheimb and his family. The architectural style is characteristic of the Baroque period, with a symmetrical facade and ornate details.

After von Oheimb's death, the building changed hands several times and was used for various purposes, including as an administrative building and a guesthouse.

In the 20th century, the Parkhof underwent several renovations to adapt it to modern requirements while preserving its historic character.

Major Renovations

• 1960s: Extensive interior renovation, including modernization of the electrical and heating systems.
• 1990s: Restoration of the facade and roof, bringing it closer to its original appearance.
• 2010s: Conversion of parts of the building into event spaces and a museum.

Today, the Parkhof is a vibrant cultural center. It houses a museum dedicated to the history of the region and the building itself, as well as various event rooms that are used for concerts, exhibitions, and private celebrations.

The surrounding park, which was also laid out in the 18th century, invites visitors to stroll and relax. The Parkhof is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike and an important part of the city's cultural heritage.
