In the Upper Austrian town of Braunau am Inn stands a historic manor and estate house that, due to its connection to Adolf Hitler, carries a burdened history. The building, which once served as a brewery inn, is now a residential and commercial property and is a protected monument.

History+

The history of the house can be traced back to the 17th century when it was already used as an inn. Additions such as a stable, a barn, and rental apartments were added. In the late 19th century, customs officer Alois Hitler lived here with his third wife Klara and their children. On April 20, 1889, Adolf Hitler was born in one of these rental apartments.
