Ahrburg, a former moated castle, is situated on the eastern edge of Golzheim in the municipality of Merzenich.

History+

The earliest known owners of Ahrburg were members of the Luschane family. In 1413, the castle, then known as Luschenicher Hof, was mentioned in a document signed by Arnold Luschane von Golzheim. In 1571, the estate passed to the brothers Alexander, Bertram, and Otto von Ahr, a family originally from Antweiler. Since 1581, the castle has been called Ahrburg.
