Church of St. Anthony Abbas

The church's origins date back to 1378, when an Antonius Chapel was first documented. This chapel retained its late Gothic form with a nave, west tower, and five-eighths choir apse until the late 19th century. In 1435, an Antonite preceptory was founded next to the chapel, followed by a monastery in 1652. This monastery was later dissolved and demolished. Since 1861, the church has served as a parish. A tower erected in the Middle Ages, which was repeatedly damaged by lightning strikes, had its original form restored in 1863. Due to population growth in the parish area, Franz Pelzer expanded the edifice in 1882 into a hall church with two side aisles. All three naves are equipped with cross-rib vaults, and the annexes feature hip roofs that extend perpendicularly from the roof of the central nave. A crucifixion group with a crucifix from the early 15th century is among the furnishings.

Today, the church is a protected architectural monument and continues to serve as a Catholic parish church within the Diocese of Münster.
