Pfalzgrafen Castle
The castle was built around 1380 by the Electors of the Palatinate in place of two townhouses. After 1420, the castle served as a free house for various nobles. In the 18th century, the rear part of the building was demolished. In 1838, the Order of the Poor School Sisters bought the property. In 1852, the city of Amberg bought the castle and established the "Maximilians-Rettungsanstalt" for socially endangered children. In 1912, the south wing was added. From 1936, the castle served as a schoolhouse and museum.
