Old Castle Beihingen

The origins of the Old Beihingen Castle date back to the 13th century. A stone house, built around 1480, is considered the oldest preserved structure. Romanesque predecessors already existed, of which only parts of the tower remain. In the 15th century, the complex underwent renovations, evident in the corner and defensive towers on the south side. Until 1534, the castle was owned by the Nothafft and Stammheim families before being acquired by Ludwig von Freiberg. From 1546, the castle gained its current appearance under the Lords of Freiberg.
