Old Castle Kißlegg

The origins of the Old Castle Kißlegg date back to around 1560, when Hans Ulrich von Schellenberg had the building erected in place of an older medieval castle. In 1708, the castle passed into the possession of the Counts of Waldburg-Wolfegg through marriage. Between 1717 and 1721, Ferdinand Ludwig von Waldburg-Wolfegg and his wife Maria Anna commissioned master builder Johann Georg Fischer to refurnish the interiors. The outbuildings were probably also constructed during this period. During restoration work in 1950, wall frescoes with biblical motifs were discovered inside one of the round towers.

The Old Castle Kißlegg is located in the municipality of Kißlegg in the Ravensburg district, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It stands at an elevation of approximately 652 meters above sea level.
