The castle was built in the 14th century. In the 16th century, it was rebuilt in Renaissance style. In 1929, the castle burned down after arson and was subsequently rebuilt. The von Metzradt family owned the castle until 1773. After this, Count Peter von Riaucour followed. Later, ownership passed to the Counts von Riaucour, who were forcibly dispossessed by the communists in 1945.
