The Annenkirche is in Dresden's Old Town. As an evangelical church, it still serves the community today.

History+

The first Annenkirche was built in 1578 because the nearby St. Bartholomew's Church had become too small. It was named after Electress Anna of Saxony. The Annenkirchhof (churchyard) was laid out around the church, and a rectory was built in 1593. Due to continued community growth, the church was expanded in 1618, with Michael Schaffhirt receiving the commission. The newly erected bell tower received its bells in 1619.
