Krottenhof Manor

The first documented mention of Krottenhof appears in 1360 in the Urbarium of Admont Abbey, where two farms in the village of Krottendorf are named. The larger of these farms, the Plattlhof, came into the possession of Johann von Paar in 1490, who transformed it into a noble residence and named it “Krottenstein”. Archduke Ferdinand freed the property from serfdom. In 1622, Rudolf Freiherr von Paar sold the estate to Prince Johann Ulrich von Eggenberg, although the property tax for the estate was unknowingly continued to be paid by the Paar family until 1635. After 1635, the manor lost its status as a noble residence and was again used as a farming estate, known as “Lainachhof”.
