Madleinhof Manor

To be privately owned

History of the Building+

The manor is already mentioned in 1509.

From the Middle Ages to the Renaissance+

The first documented mention of the building dates back to 1509. At that time, it was owned by the noble family "von Liechtenberg", who significantly shaped the region. The original structure was probably a fortified tower, typical for the Middle Ages, which served for defense and as a residence.

In the course of the 16th century, the building underwent significant changes. Under the influence of the Renaissance, the fortified character was increasingly replaced by representative elements. Large windows were installed, and the interior was redesigned to meet the demands of a noble household.

Baroque Splendor and Decline+

The 17th and 18th centuries brought further architectural changes. The building was expanded with baroque elements, including ornate stucco work and frescoes. During this period, it reached its peak as a prestigious residence.

However, with the decline of the noble family in the 19th century, the building also began to decline. It changed hands several times and was partially neglected. Parts of the original furnishings were sold or lost.

20th Century and Present Day+

In the early 20th century, the building was acquired by a private owner who initiated initial restoration measures. However, extensive renovations only took place in the late 20th century, when the building was placed under monument protection.

Today, the building serves as a cultural center and museum. It is open to the public and offers insights into the rich history of the region. Regular exhibitions and events take place here.
