Pabenschwandt Manor

The earliest mention of the name Pabenschwandt dates to 1269, when a Konrad von Pabenswant acted as a guarantor. In 1288, Gottfried von Pabenswant's wife, Hedwig, along with her seven children, was handed over to the Salzburg church. The Pawenswanter family served as landlords from 1336. After the death of the last Pawenswanter, Eustach von der Alm, the property passed to his servant Sebastian Hartberger. Hartberger's family sold the estate in 1567 to Hanns Heß and Anna Copeindlin after Hartberger died childless. In 1574, Balthasar von Raunach acquired the estate, whose administration was later moved to Wartenfels. David Widmannster, the administrator of Wartenfels, bought the estate in 1606 and bequeathed it to his children. Ferdinand Hueber acquired Pabenschwandt in 1678. The estate, referred to as a “noble free seat” in 1688, was sold in 1705 by Josef Pock von Arnholz to St. Peter's Monastery. In the 18th century, the estate comprised a three-story manor house with a bay window, octagonal annex, and house chapel.
