The Ansitz Rothenburg, a manor and estate house, is located in Graz-Eggenberg. Its history dates back to the 14th century. The property acquired its current castle-like appearance in the late 16th century.

History+

The origins of Ansitz Rothenburg lie in an estate that belonged to Rein Abbey. In 1385, ownership passed to Friedrich der Wagerspacher. The castle building was erected in 1579 under Abbot Georg Freiseisen of Rein. In the subsequent years, it became part of the Eggenberg dominion. In 1740, Johann Ernst Karl von Ortenhofen transferred the property to his heirs. Numerous changes of ownership followed, until the estate passed to Rittmeister Hans Peter in 1916, who initiated renovations.
