The ancient city of Alabanda, once also known as "Carian Antioch," is located in modern-day Turkey. Between two hills, it was once famous for its dark marble and the high standard of living of its inhabitants.

History+

The founding of Alabanda is attributed to the Carian local hero Alabandos. In the early Seleucid period, the city was a member of the Chrysaoric League, an association of Carian cities promoting trade and defense. For a time, it was renamed Antioch in honor of Antiochus III. In 201 BC, Alabanda fell to Philip V of Macedon.
