Ancient City Antiochia am Kragos

The founding of Antiochia ad Cragum is believed to have occurred in the middle of the 1st century AD, likely by King Antiochus IV of Commagene. He was granted control over Rough Cilicia by Claudius in 41 AD. From 72 AD, the city became part of the Roman province of Cilicia and belonged to the province of Isauria from the early 4th to the 7th century. For a long time, Antiochia was considered rather insignificant and only superficially Romanized. However, recent archaeological finds, including a large mosaic from around 300 AD uncovered in 2012, suggest that the city was wealthier and more important than previously thought.
