Ancient City Carantiacum-Roman Villa

As early as 1893, the first traces of the villa, including a large column, were discovered during water pipe work. More extensive excavations began in 1983 after the demolition of modern buildings. During this process, the southwestern corner of the main building including a water basin, walls over two meters high, marble profiles of doors and windows, and remnants of wall paintings depicting motifs from Roman mythology were uncovered. Further excavations revealed evidence of at least four outbuildings, which likely served as utility rooms and accommodation for servants. The entire estate once covered an area of approximately 8570 square meters.
