The ancient city of Castra Albana and its amphitheater are located in Albano Laziale, a town in the Lazio region of Italy. This site gives insight into Roman history.
Castra Albana was a permanently fortified camp of Legio II Parthica, founded in Italy by Emperor Septimius Severus (193-211). Today, the remains of the structures within the camp, including the Baths of Caracalla and the Roman Amphitheater of Albano Laziale, represent one of the largest collections of Roman archaeological finds in Lazio outside of Rome. The amphitheater itself was built in the mid-3rd century.
