The ancient city of Euromos is in the Turkish province of Muğla, in the Anatolian region of Caria. The well-preserved Temple of Zeus Lepsynos is considered one of the best-preserved examples of its kind in Asia Minor.

History+

In the 5th century BC, Euromos was part of the Delian League. Under King Maussolos in the 4th century BC, the city experienced a strengthening. In 167 BC, Euromos lost its independence to the neighboring city of Mylasa, which had previously broken away from Rhodes. In the Hellenistic and Roman periods, Euromos flourished through alliances with the Roman Empire, Rhodes, and the Carian city of Iasos. Excavations and restorations, which began in the 1970s, are still not fully completed today.
