The remains of the ancient town can be visited

The ancient city of Iotape, named after the daughter of Commagenian King Antiochus IV, is situated on the southern coast of Asia Minor. Its remains are located at an elevation of about five meters above sea level.

History+

Iotape was founded under Antiochus IV of Commagene, who reigned from 38 to 72 AD. After Emperor Claudius entrusted him with control over Rough Cilicia in 41 AD, Antiochus IV named the city after his daughter. The nearby Antioch on the Cragus was also founded by him.

The coastal road between Alanya and Anamur runs directly through the site, where remnants of baths, churches, granaries, and a necropolis are still visible.
