Ancient Town Kalavasos-Ayios Dhimitrios

The origins of Kalavasos-Ayios Dhimitrios date back to the Late Bronze Age. During excavations necessitated by highway construction in 1979, numerous residential buildings were uncovered across an area of approximately ten hectares. A large building complex constructed with ashlar masonry is among the largest of its kind from this period in Cyprus. Around a central courtyard, numerous storage rooms with pithoi were found, used for storing olive oil.
