The ancient city of Kalavasos-Tenta in Cyprus is a significant testament to the early aceramic Neolithic period. Located in the Vasilikos Valley, this site offers deep insights into the way of life of people thousands of years ago and is characterized by its well-preserved round houses made of mud bricks.
History+
The first exploration of Kalavasos-Tenta began in 1974 by Porphyrios Dikeos. Between 1976 and 1984, British archaeologist Ian Todd conducted more extensive excavations. The settlement went through several construction phases, starting with a period without permanent buildings in the late 7th millennium BC. Later phases showed the construction of round houses, some even with indications of upper floors. Parts of the settlement were protected by a wall. After an interruption, the site was re-settled in the early Chalcolithic period.

Kalavasos-Tenta is located near the town of Kalavasos in the Larnaca district, on the island of Cyprus in the Republic of Cyprus. The site is situated at an elevation of approximately 59 meters above sea level.
