The Roman Forum of Philippopolis in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, is the largest forum complex in the country.
History+
Construction of this forum began towards the end of the 1st century. During this era, a new urban plan was implemented in Philippopolis, which included a central square modeled after Roman examples. The entire complex spanned an area of 11 hectares. The main square was surrounded on three sides by shops of identical size, while public buildings were located to the north. Also north of the forum was an odeon with a capacity of 300 to 350 seats. This structure initially served as the seat of the city administration before later being converted into a theater.

Visitors can explore the remains of the Roman Forum. The odeon continues to be used for cultural events such as chamber plays, concerts, and reading evenings.
