The Ancient City of Thasos Theater is located on the island of Thasos in Northern Greece. It was once a central place of public life.
History+
The ancient city of Thasos developed into a center in the North Aegean from around 680 BC. In the 6th century BC, it reached a golden age. The city, which once had about 20,000 inhabitants, was destroyed and abandoned in the 7th century AD. The theater was part of this city, which benefited from its geographical location, surrounded by fertile plains and rich in marble.

The ancient theater is located on the island of Thasos, in the region of Anatoliki Makedonia, Thraki (East Macedonia and Thrace) in Northern Greece. It stands at an elevation of approximately 43 meters above sea level.
