Antvorskov Monastery, once a sacred building, is located in the Danish region of Sjælland. Originally a monastery, it was later transformed into a royal residence and is now accessible as a ruin.
History+
The founding of Antvorskov Monastery took place in 1170 by the Order of St. John. With the Reformation, its fate changed: the monastery and all its possessions were confiscated by the Danish Crown. King Frederik II had the former monastery converted into a royal palace. This place also became his final resting place, as Frederik II died here in 1588.

The ruins of Antvorskov Monastery are situated in Slagelse-Antvorskov, within the municipality of Slagelse in the Sjælland region, Denmark. The site is located at an elevation of approximately 64 meters above sea level.
