The Arch of Titus, better known as the Arco di Tito, is an ancient structure in the Roman Forum in Rome. It is the oldest surviving triumphal arch in the city.

History+

The Arch of Titus was erected at the end of the first century AD to honor Emperor Titus's triumph over the rebels in Judea and the conquest of Jerusalem in 70 AD. The dedicatory inscription on the east side, attributing the arch to the deified Titus by the Senate and People of Rome, suggests that the monument was built after his death during the reign of his brother Domitian.
