The Augustinian Canons Regular Monastery of Heilig Kreuz in Augsburg, Bavaria, is a historic monastic complex now managed by Dominicans. It houses both a Catholic and a Protestant Heilig-Kreuz Church and is protected as a historical monument in Bavaria.
History+
The monastery's origins trace back to a hospice, possibly existing during Bishop Ulrich's time. In 1143, Bishop Walter I relocated the institution from Perlachberg to the Augsburg suburb. Between 1159 and 1167, Bishop Konrad of Augsburg assigned Augustinian Canons Regular to oversee the hospital, leading to the abandonment of the mother monastery in Muttershofen and the relocation of the provost to Augsburg.
