The former Augustinian Hermits Monastery of All Saints in Tittmoning, located in the district of Traunstein, is a historic sacred building in Bavaria. Its architecture and history reflect the development of monastic life and its subsequent repurposing.
History+
The monastery was founded in 1682 by Max Gandolf von Kuenburg, then Archbishop of Salzburg. Construction was overseen by the Flemish master builder Bartholomäus van Opstal. By 1730, the complex included the monastic building, a church, and a south wing with a monastery garden, fountain, and pavilion. Around 1760, the complex was expanded with an additional west wing. The monastery was dissolved in 1806. Subsequently, the complex served as a barracks from 1807 to 1822 and as a prison from 1823 to 1930. In 1854, the west wing and the monastery's brewery were demolished. Since 1935, the complex has been privately owned and underwent extensive renovation in 1983.
