The Badeschloss in Bad Gastein, a historic building, stands at an altitude of approximately 1026 meters above sea level in the St. Johann im Pongau district, Salzburg. Originally conceived as a public spa institution, it is now a hotel.

History+

The construction of the Badeschloss took place between 1791 and 1794 according to the designs of Wolfgang Hagenauer, commissioned by the Prince-Archbishop Colloredo of Salzburg. The classicist serpentine portal, a work by Anton Högl, was completed in 1794. In 1807, the castle was converted into a public spa house. A redesign occurred in 1857, during which the building was demolished up to the first floor and rebuilt.
