Ballyhannon Castle, also known as Castlefergus, is a well-preserved castle in County Clare, Ireland. This fortress was built around 1490.

History+

The origins of Ballyhannon Castle date back to the late 15th century. It was constructed around 1490 by Hugh and possibly Sioda, sons of Donnchadh MacNamara. The castle remained in the possession of the MacNamara family. In 1970, American millionaire and oil heiress Elizabeth Phillips (of Phillips Petroleum) and her husband Henry D. Irwin acquired the property and undertook extensive restoration, after which the castle was made available for rent.

The castle is situated near the town of Quin in County Clare (An Clár), within the province of Munster (An Mhumhain) in western Ireland, at an elevation of approximately 26 meters above sea level.
