Bannturm

The origins of the Bannturm date back to 1178, when Knight Eberhard Waro had the original castle, known as the Hinteres Schlösschen, built. In 1211, ownership passed to the Lords of Eppstein, who expanded the complex. In 1436, the Lords of Heusenstamm took over the castle. After its destruction in 1561, it was rebuilt under Eberhard von Heusenstamm. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle suffered damage again but was restored. In 1661, the dominion of Heusenstamm was sold to Philipp Erwein von Schönborn.
