St. Peter's Basilica

In 1498, Friedrich II von Zollern, then Bishop of Augsburg, initiated the establishment of a collegiate church on the site of an older church building. This collegiate church was dissolved during the secularization in 1803, after which the church regained its status as a city parish church. Between 1619 and 1628, the current three-aisled hall building was constructed under the direction of court architect Hans Alberthal, on the foundations of predecessor churches from the 13th and 15th centuries. Following damage during the Thirty Years' War, a renovation took place in 1643.
