Bassenheimer Palace
The Bassenheim Palace+
From 1768 to 1770, a new stately building, today's Bassenheim Palace, was erected in place of the castle for the Counts Waldbott von Bassenheim by the master builder Johann Friedrich Sckell (b. 1725). The hall on the first floor of the palace was painted with frescoes by the Swiss painter Christian Stöcklin (1741 to 1795), who worked in Frankfurt am Main. These frescoes depict perspectives of Venice and were only uncovered in 2014 from under plaster and whitewash.
