Bastei Castle
The Basteischlösschen is a building in the Inner Old Town of Dresden on the Terrassenufer. It stands on the site of the Sol bastion of the fortifications on the Elbe riverbank north of Theaterplatz, near the Italienisches Dörfchen and the former location of the Hotel Bellevue.
The Basteischlösschen was built in 1860 with terraces extending to the Elbe and covered open-air areas. Already in 1910, it had to be demolished for the construction of the riverside road and rebuilt in a modified form.
During the bombing of Dresden in World War II, the building was destroyed. After partial reconstruction, the Allgemeiner Deutscher Motorsport Verband used the building as an office until 1980. Afterwards, the Basteischlösschen was renovated and used as a restaurant.
