On the Terrassenufer of the Elbe River in Dresden's Inner Old Town is the Basteischlösschen.

History+

The original Basteischlösschen was constructed in 1860, featuring terraces that reached the Elbe and covered open-air spaces. Its position marked the site of the former Bastion Sol, part of the Elbe river fortifications. As early as 1910, the building had to be demolished to allow for the construction of a riverside road. It was subsequently rebuilt in a modified form. During World War II, the Basteischlösschen suffered severe damage and was destroyed during the bombing of Dresden.
