Beeston Castle

On a steep hill in Beeston, Cheshire, England, stands the castle ruin of Beeston Castle. Its location and preserved remains date back to the 13th century.
History+
The origins of Beeston Castle trace back to the 1220s, when Ranulf de Blondeville, the 4th Earl of Chester, began its construction. In 1237, the site came into the possession of King Henry III of England. During the English Civil War, from 1643, the castle served as a fortress for the New Model Army. In 1646, Beeston Castle suffered partial destruction by royal troops. Since 1967, the ruin has been protected as a Grade I listed building.
