Benediktinerinnenkloster Trier-Kürenz

The monastery was founded in 1854 by the French Benedictine convent of Saint-Nicolas-du-Port at the invitation of Bishop Wilhelm Arnoldi. Initially established as a privately endowed women's monastery on Gartenfeldstraße in Trier, it gained the status of an independent priory in 1869. Between 1875 and 1888, the sisters had to move to Bettemburg and later to Peppingen in Luxembourg due to the Kulturkampf, before a part of the community returned to Trier. The monastery was then named Bethanien. A move to Trier-Kürenz became necessary in 1922, as the original location was affected by railway construction. During World War II, the nuns were evacuated to Wintrich in 1944, and the monastery building was destroyed in a bombing raid in 1945. After the war, the nuns returned and moved back into the partially rebuilt monastery in Kürenz in 1949.

The monastery is located in Trier, a city in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

The convent, which currently consists of eight nuns, is dedicated to baking communion wafers and embroidering paraments.
