The origins of Klostermansfeld monastery date back to 1170, when it was founded. It was a convent of the Benedictine order and was dedicated to Saint Mary. For several centuries, the monastery shaped the spiritual and cultural life of its surroundings until it was dissolved and secularized in 1525 during the Reformation.
