The Provostry of Grafenhausen was founded around the year 1100, established as a settlement of the Benedictine Order. Under the patronage of Saint Fides, the monastery developed into a spiritual and economic center. The Benedictine community existed for approximately 300 years before the provostry was dissolved and secularized around the year 1400.
