Benedikt Castle

A part of the current building dates back to the 16th century. The estate originally belonged to St. Peter's Abbey, which first granted it as an inheritance right in 1662 to Petrus Pachler, the abbey's official at the time, and his wife Maria Jakobe Faberin. The castle changed hands multiple times. Many of the later owners were gingerbread makers and wax chandlers, which earned the building the nickname Lebzelterhaus and led to the establishment of a wax bleaching facility in the garden. Since 1866, the Benediktschlössl has been owned by the Benedikt family.
