The Beverfoerder Hof in Münster is an example of early Baroque aristocratic architecture. This city palace once served as a residence and, with its three-winged design inspired by French and Dutch models, influenced the architecture of subsequent noble courts in the region.

History+

The construction of the Beverfoerder Hof took place between 1699 and 1702. On the site of an earlier building, the Davensberger Hof, Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius created this noble residence for Bernhard Engelbert Christian von Beverförde-Werries. The city palace was characterized by a horseshoe-shaped floor plan that opened towards the street and was delimited by a wall with a high iron gate. The two-story brick central building featured a flat central projection flanked by four Ionic pilasters and crowned by a triangular pediment.
