The Bevern Castle, also known as the Small Castle, is a baroque building in Wolfenbüttel, located directly on the Schlossplatz next to the larger Wolfenbüttel Castle.

History+

The castle's origins date back to 1643. It was repeatedly expanded, redesigned, and also reduced in size. The two-story half-timbered building with a mezzanine visible today largely dates from 1730 and forms the original west wing. Around 1830, the building largely acquired its current appearance. In the 17th century, it primarily served as a residence for the hereditary princes of Brunswick and Lüneburg. From 1687 to 1712, it housed the Rudolph-Antoniana Knight Academy, founded by Duke Anton Ulrich.
