Biebersteinsches Castle

Around the year 1362, Kuno Rödel von Reifenberg expanded his Hahnstätten property into a castle, whose moat was fed by a side arm of the Aar river. The castle was conquered and completely plundered in 1392 by Count Palatine Ruprecht bei Rhein, whose troops also devastated the towns of Netzbach, Kaltenholzhausen, and Birlenbach. In the 18th century, the castle was converted into a palace. In 1815/16, the moated castle came into the possession of Baron Marschall von Bieberstein ("Bieberstein Castle") and remained in family ownership until 1969.
