The Episcopal Castle in Chur serves as the official residence of the Bishop of Chur and is a Baroque structure, situated directly opposite the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption.

History+

The castle's origins date back to the period after 1272, when an initial building was constructed following the consecration of the cathedral. Its current Baroque appearance was largely shaped in 1732/33. Under Bishop Joseph von Rost, who served from 1728 to 1754, architectural influences from his Tyrolean homeland were incorporated into the redesign. Today, the castle is adorned with stucco decorations and four pilasters on its facade, enclosing an inner courtyard.
