Blue Castle (Mansbach)

Due to their independence, the von Mansbach family was able to build a whole series of castles and palaces in Mansbach, such as Schloss Geyso. Since this was sold in 1662, the family needed a new Schloss Mansbach in which they could reside. As there were a number of castles and stately buildings in the village, including the Sundial Building, which was first called Unterhof and later also Oberhof, it is no longer entirely clear today which of the castles was the actual predecessor of Schloss Mansbach. The latter was only built in 1820, almost 160 years after the sale of Schloss Geyso.

Mansbach Castle, which is also known today as Unterhof or the "blue castle", left the family's possession and has been used for other purposes since 2006. In addition to holiday apartments, there are also barrier-free apartments for the mentally ill. The Mediterranean paintwork, which Schloss Mansbach has also borne since 2006, is striking.
