Bonifatiuskloster (Hünfeld)

The Bonifatiuskloster was founded in 1895 as the first establishment of the German Province of the Oblate Missionaries. Construction of the church and monastery complex, designed by Arnold Güldenpfennig, commenced in 1896 and was completed in 1900. Between 1914 and 1919, the monastery served as a reserve hospital. During the Nazi era, the monastery was expropriated in 1941, and the religious community was expelled, but they were able to return in September 1946. Until 1971, the monastery housed a philosophical-theological college, which was subsequently closed. Since then, the monastery has evolved into a retreat and conference center and has served as the mother house of the Central European Province of the Oblates since 2007.

The Bonifatiuskloster is situated in Hünfeld, a town in Eastern Hesse, Germany, not far from Fulda.

Today, the monastery is utilized as a conference and retreat center. It hosts the Oblate novitiate, a nursing station for Oblates requiring care, and the Oblate Youth Office, which coordinates youth work within the Central European Province.
