Boos von Waldeckscher Hof Manor

The Boos von Waldecksche Hof, located in the heart of the picturesque old town of Meisenheim am Glan, embodies over 800 years of history. It originated in the Middle Ages as a feudal court of the Counts of Veldenz and the Dukes of Palatinate-Zweibrücken. Documented since 1422, it was owned by the Boos von Waldeck and Montfort family, a family of the Rhenish ancient nobility, who also owned Montfort Castle, to which our vineyard in sole possession "Montfort" owes its name. The knight's boot drink is omnipresent in German sagas, by means of which a hard-drinking representative of the family is said to have won the village of Hüffelsheim in a bet: by drinking a large boot filled with wine (unfortunately, we don't know from which estate).

After a varied history of use and unfortunately also massive neglect, the Boos von Waldecksche Hof was renovated in accordance with monument preservation standards by Christian Held between 2005 and 2009. The current building still predominantly features original substance from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The picturesque overall impression, the architectural-historical details, and the museum-like furnishings characterize the special nature of the building. In the south wing, the Boos von Waldecksche Hofbrennerei (court distillery) was established during the renovation.
