Brandsburg Castle (Alten-Buseck)
In Alten-Buseck, a village within the municipality of Buseck, stands the Brandsburg, a historic lowland castle in Hesse. Originally surrounded by a moat, it now serves as a cultural center and houses various public facilities.
History+
The first documented mention of the Brandsburg dates back to 1490. At that time, members of the Buseck family, known as Brand, transferred the castle to the Hessian Landgrave and subsequently received it back as a fief. This fief typically included a farm in Beuern. After 1730, the original castle complex was demolished and rebuilt in 1735.

Today, the Brandsburg functions as a cultural center. It accommodates offices, a youth club, a community room for rural women, exhibition spaces, the public library, and the local municipal archive. The complex consists of a two-story manor house with a mansard roof and a modern extension.
