On the Isle of Arran, near the town of Brodick in Scotland, stands Brodick Castle.

History+

The origins of the current Brodick Castle date back to the 5th century, when a fort was built on this site by the Scots who expanded their Kingdom of Dalriada on Arran. In 1503, James IV granted the castle and the title Earl of Arran to his cousin James Hamilton. It served as the seat of the Dukes of Hamilton. In 1958, the estate became the property of the National Trust for Scotland and was opened to the public.
