Adendorf Castle
Adendorf Castle is a moated castle in Adendorf, a district of Wachtberg in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The estate consists of the main castle, which has four towers, and the outer bailey, which mainly comprises utility buildings. The main castle is used as a residence by the owner family von Loë (since 1815). The complex is a protected architectural monument.
The entire estate, at an elevation of 194.2 m, is surrounded by a moat and has also been renovated in recent years with funds from the German Foundation for Monument Protection.
The current castle complex, built between 1655 and 1670, includes extensive forestry and agricultural land. For several years, the owner has been organizing a type of fair annually on the castle grounds together with an exhibition company.
A visit to the castle is not possible. In 2008, parts of the Jo Baier film Henri 4 were shot in the area of the castle. Film production companies use the complex about twice a year.
